Nicky Currie has been in catering all her working life but decided to set up in business on her own account in 1990 when she formed Hunger Pangs.
Her guiding principle in all that she does is that only the very best will do.
Since then her business has grown steadily and she has generated an enviable reputation for being utterly professional and producing wonderful food too. The business has grown almost entirely by personal recommendation, there is only a minimal amount of advertising and she is booked more than two years ahead.
Nicky’s success stems from the fact that she sources all her produce very carefully, trains her staff to work to her own exacting standards, grows her own herbs in the farmhouse garden, will not use microwave ovens or pre-prepared food, nothing (except shellfish and some stocks) is frozen and all cooked food arrives to table piping hot on warmed plates. Her desserts are exquisite and the cheeseboards mouthwatering. And she is fully involved in the food for every event, driving the kitchens while Michael takes care of front of house and logistics.
Nicky and Hunger Pangs cater for the Old Barn from her kitchens in the main farmhouse and from those attached to the barn; these are fully professionally equipped but Hunger Pangs also regularly caters away from Pangdean too, be it in a marquee, the Royal Pavilion or other venue. Our kitchens are regularly inspected by the Health and Hygiene Executive and meet their most exacting standards.
We can provide sample menus to give you ideas, but each event is different and we will work very closely with you to provide the best value for your budget. Apart from the more formal, traditional meals we are happy to provide hog roasts, buffets, curries and BBQ’s as required. Vegetarian, children’s meals, allergies and special diets are also fully catered for.
